What Does It Cost? Some people may obtain help with the cost of mediation through public funding - see below. For those that do not qualify for public funding the cost is £180.00 +VAT per couple, per session or £90.00 +VAT per person. Each session lasts for one and a half hours and payment is made at each session. There will be additional charges for administration - particulary for the drawing up of documentation at the conclusion of mediation. Those charges are at the same rate per hour. Couples normally need between three and six 90 minute sessions. Are you eligible for Public Funding? In the case of Family Mediation you will automatically qualify on income grounds if you receive Income Support or Income-based Job Seekers allowance. However, if you receive other income your gross income must not exceed £2,350 per month (this figure increases if you have more than 4 children) and your disposable income must not exceed £649 per month. Your capital must not exceed £8,000. You will have to provide details of your income, expenses, savings, etc. to help the Legal Services Commission decide how much you should pay. |
